Party holds women meet in Jammu, asserts protection of JK’s secular fabric

Jammu, 20 March (KNO) : People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday reiterated its commitment for empowering the women of the state at all levels, stating that the leadership is committed with the invincible determination and courage to fight against all odds to make women self- sufficient.

The party in a statement issued here said that to secure the secular fabric of the state and keep the communal harmony intact and alive shall be amongst its top priorities and ensuring the equitable development of all the regions has been the prime focus of the PDP since the very inception. Addressing a well attended gathering of women workers organised by Ms Sapna and Ms Chreista Marry at Christian Colony Residency road, PDP Women’s wing president and vice chairperson Mrs Vijaya Dogra Katoch said that the present government led by the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is carrying the baggage of neglect from the previous government, however the present regime is committed to undo this dismay by ensuring that administration is geared for rational utilization of available resources for key sectors like roads, bridges, public health, power and rural development.

On this occasion District president Women Wing Mrs Adv Jasmeet Pandey addressed the gathering. Hailing the courage of the PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for getting the state ot oif the squalid conditions, Dogra said it was for the first time that issues pertaining to political and social sectors as well as economic woes of the state were so well documented and that the Central as well as the State leadership was brought on the same page. Mrs Vijaya said that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is relentlessly pursuing the implementation of the Agenda of Alliance at the highest level and that the party must strive towards building a peaceful and conducive environment for implementing the terms of the Agenda of Alliance as it will do a great deal in not only addressing the political issues that the State faces, but will also help in boosting the State’s economy.

She said that administration is being made more responsive, accountable and active and local needs get an exposure. Dogra said people also appreciate the interest of the chief minister as most of the pressing issues which otherwise get ignored at the expense of poor and needy are being resolved on priority. Mrs Vijaya Dogra stressed upon women workers to whole-heartedly support the policies and programmes of the PDP and strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister and party president, Mehbooba Mufti “as she is the only leader in the State who has the vision about the problems of the women-folk and have capability to resolve them,”she said. Highlighting the accomplishments of women in different fields of life, -Vijaya said that government schemes focused on women empowerment from” Laadli”, “Aasra” to Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ along with various schemes for better health and education facilities, are unwavering efforts of present government towards women development which are enabling them to contribute to state and country’s growth.

She also urged other women-leaders of PDP to strengthen their wards in Jammu City and hold meetings in every ward so that message of the party reaches to the common masses.(KNO)
